MARVIN PETRY

Marvin Petry joined Larson & Taylor in 1965 after having served as a Patent Examiner in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and he became a partner in 1970. His experiences have been primarily in litigation, licensing and counseling of patent and trademark matters and also both patent and trademark prosecution before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He is a member of the Virginia and District of Columbia Bars and has served on the Board of the Directors of the American Intellectual Property Law Association and as Chairman of the Intellectual Property Section of the Virginia Bar. He is also a member of the American Bar Association and other professional association. He is currently an Adjunct Professor of Law at Georgetown University Law School, and has lectured and written extensively on taxation of intellectual property, including authorship of a treatise entitled "Taxation of Intellectual Property" published by Matthew Bender.

He received his B.M.E. degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, his M.B.A. degree from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and his J.D. degree from Georgetown University Law School. His principal areas of practice includes litigation, licensing, counseling, Patent and Trademark Office prosecution, and taxation of intellectual property. |
